The 'Burn' singer has been rumoured to be dating the McFly singer for several months, and has spoken to Alan Carr about the romance.
When asked on Chatty Man if the rumours are true, Goulding said: "Err, he's my man friend. Boyfriend traditionally."
She added: "He's a very lovely human being."
On how long they have been together, she said: "Well I don't know. We were sort of friends for quite a long time."
Earlier this week, Poynter also confirmed the relationship while speaking on ITV2's Fearne and... McBusted special.
Ellie Goulding has dated the likes of Skrillex, Jeremy Irvine and Greg James in the past.
John Cleese, Mary Portas and Richard Ayoade will also appear on tonight's Chatty Man at 10pm on Channel 4.
