PGA Professionals in Field Gather to Make a Memory

They come from a variety of career paths, but remain committed to one purpose - to promote the game of golf while enjoying a reward for their hard work - a berth in the Final season Major. They are 20 PGA club professionals, representing 19 states and 17 PGA sections. Thursday at Atlanta Athletic Club, they will be part of a field of a 156-member international field at the 93rd PGA Championship.
"We all come from a variety of jobs back home, but we are all here to play well and enjoy that part of a major championship," said reigning PGA Professional National Champion David Hutsell of Baltimore, Maryland, after a group photo opportunity with his colleagues on the 18th green Tuesday morning. "It's my second straight PGA Championship, and I learned that you pace yourself, the course is great .. The fairways are wide and the greens are big you can not ask for more .."
20 earned a berth by the 44th PGA Professional National Championship, June 29 at Hershey (Pa.) Country Club. Hutsell does a conditional average 40 years old, and he is one of 11 who have tasted the atmosphere of the season last major at least once in their careers. They range in job Mike Small, the Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year in Champaign, Illinois, which owns three national championships, to Marty Jertson of Reno, Nevada, a senior design engineer for PING, making his debut in a major championship.
